More on PMVA

Freezing fog returned this morning to the steppes of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, providing a gloomy start to another week.

The PMVA training went ahead as mentioned in yesterday’s post. The reveal – Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression. We need this for when NHS managers turn rogue or renegade. Now, a good prevention strategy in this regard is to remain up to date and compliant with the purgatory that is mandatory training.

Due to an administrative error, I was actually booked onto the wrong course – a two-day event for ward-based staff. It was good to meet other staff members I would not normally come into contact with during my normal work and to realise we are struggling with similar issues. We also struggled with each other as we practised a range of breakaway techniques.

An added bonus was that we also covered CPR (cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation) with the lovely plastic dolls. How much fun can a guy have at work in one day?

The good news is that I do not have to go to the second day, and so I have the gift of time and can catch up with lots of bits and pieces tomorrow. The start of the week has not been as gloomy as feared.
